A benefit concert to support survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking. All proceeds from this event will be donated to Safe Homes of Orange County.
Did you know that 1 in 4 women, and 1 in 7 men, have been the victim of physical abuse by an intimate partner in their lifetime?
Did you know violence against women is one of the only crimes where the victim is often blamed?
If you’re walking down the street and are robbed, no one will say, “What did you expect would happen with money in your pocket?” For victims of domestic violence, we will often hear questions like, “What did you do to provoke it?” By engaging in victim-blaming, society allows the abuser to continue to abuse while avoiding accountability for their actions.
Safe Homes of Orange County offers safety, resources and hope to domestic violence victims, helping them to heal, recover and reclaim lives free of violence and abuse.
In 2016, they provided:
- Almost 5,000 nights of safety at their shelter
- Provided safety planning and access to support services and resources in over 3,300 crisis line calls
- Provided over 17,400 advocacy services to help victims with law enforcement, court accompaniment, medical and legal services, therapeutic counseling, housing, employment, economic empowerment and education, as well as nearly 5,000 nights of safety at their shelter
Your donations will support helping victims to safety, emergency shelter, medical care, counseling, legal services, food, clothing and personal items.
The price of two tickets will buy food for a survivor and two children for a week.
