“As a domestic violence survivor, I know how important it is to know there is help available.  Safe Homes is there for people in our community who may be at their darkest hour. Personally, helping other survivors has been healing.  It’s brought purpose to what happened.  This benefit concert is the perfect way to honor my own personal journey of survival, to celebrate 20 years in business, and to help others who may be dealing with abuse to know, there is help, there is hope,” said event host, Loretta Breedveld.

Dear friends, business associates and fellow community members,

I am celebrating my 20th year as the owner/operator of the Warwick Valley Bed & Breakfast, which is also my home. Five years ago, on my 15th year anniversary, I celebrated with a heartfelt party at my home, with music, food and spirits that turned into a fundraising event for Safe Homes of Orange County. Being a survivor of domestic violence, Safe Homes is my charity of choice, as they are dedicated to helping survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking. Without planning, the event was held one week after Hurricane Sandy hit our region. Despite this significant obstacle, the community came together and through their generosity, we raised $6,000. This funding helps the most vulnerable population in our community to safety, emergency shelter, medical care, counseling, legal services, food, clothing and personal items. In honor of my 20th anniversary, my goal is to raise $20,000 for Safe Homes.

On Sunday, July 30, 2017, from 2-6PM at the Chateau Hathorn, we are sponsoring the inaugural Break the Silence Music Event. It is going to be a memorable and enjoyable afternoon of music, summer fare and spirits. We are featuring a fantastic line up of musical groups donating their time for this benefit and the community response has been overwhelming. We are expecting the event to sell out. Beside supporting a worthy cause and helping the most vulnerable population within our community, this is a great opportunity to connect with your neighbors. For local businesses, this is a chance to highlight your business and feature your services and goods. The event poster and sponsorship form is enclosed. Your support would be greatly appreciated and will have a big impact on helping those in need.

Frequently, victims of domestic violence are afraid to speak out and financially have no resources to leave their abusers. By supporting this music event, you will be helping adults and children to break the silence, and reclaim lives free of violence and abuse. We hope you will become our partner in helping these fragile lives.
